Youth Group Fellowship and Service
Synod Sponsored Retreats
The Delaware Maryland Synod offers retreats for middle school and high school students. In the fall middle school students meet at FreeRide and in the winter high school students meet at RoadTrip. At these retreats, young people from across the Synod gather for a weekend of fun, Bible study, service, worship, and community building in large and small groups. Each day ends with Family Time, an opportunity for prayer and reflection.
Summer Camp at Mar Lu Ridge
Mar Lu Ridge welcomes all people to a mountaintop experience of Christian community that changes lives, makes disciples, builds friendships, and encourages care of God’s creation. Campers of all ages experience and engage in cooperative learning while participating in new activities, all in a safe, non-threatening, non-competitive and hands-on environment that builds campers’ confidence along with an understanding of what it means to live as a “community in Christ.” As part of our confirmation program, confirmation students develop their faith and explore the Bible at Confirmation camp.
ELCA Youth Gathering
Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.
Summer Fellowship Trips
During the summer, the Good Shepherd Youth Groups takes trips to places like Hersey Park, tent camping, and more!
